In Belgium, the biomass-energy has covered 96% of the consumption from renewable heat (2012) and 38% of the renewable production of electricity (except incineration) (2012).
In 2010, the fixed objectives in the national action plan for the renewable energy were slightly exceeded. However, in 2011, the bioenergy has represented 43% of the objective of consumption of 2020. The energy production from biomass will therefore have to increase considerably in the coming years.
